My Twins FrankenSet - Page 0 and Page 1

Very Excited to share the first two pages of my first FrankenSet!
No - not that Franken...

I've seen a few FrankenSets out there - John has a Braves set, Tom has a Cubs set, Nick has the Dime Box FrankenSet, Robert has a serial numbered card set. I'm sure there are many others. Tell me about yours in the comments!

I decided this would be a good way to at least start organizing my Twins cards.

My own "rules" for the set are pretty simple -
1. Each card should be a Twins player in a Twins uniform (and exclude multi-team cards)
2. If at all possible, each page should have 9 unique players and 9 unique sets
3. Have Fun (Mandatory)

I am biased towards vintage cards, so I will tend to slip as many of those in as I can. I also decided to be pretty picky (for now) about which cards go in. I lean towards the Twins that have retired numbers (Bert Blyleven, Rod Carew, Kent Hrbek, Harmon Killebrew, Tony Oliva, and Kirby Puckett) and personal favorites like Brad Radke, Joe Mauer, Jacque Jones, Cesar Tovar, etc etc etc... Even Kennys Vargas has a card in the first 100, but we'll get to him later.

Here's Page 0. Literally taking a page from P-Town Tom's book, I am using a bunch of those Fleer stickers with Twins logos to fill out the front of the binder.

I decided to have the bottom row show each of the three stadiums the Twins have played in - Metropolitan Stadium, the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, and now Target Field.

The backs.
One interesting thing to note about the two Dome cards - see the first game 4/6/82 ?
Well, nobody said Fleer was perfect.

Page 1 in all its glory:
Five Hall of Famers (Should be 6, c'mon Tony O!) on page one, very happy with the start to this one. One vintage, a 1963 Jell-O Vic Power, some junk wax, and some newer stuff. Now we're Franken!

The backs:
Tony Oliva's card is a numbered parallel - I'm building that base set, so I used the yellow version instead for the Franken Set.

  1. I started a White Sox frankenset a couple months back. You have ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL those dupes - what else ya gonna do with them. It starts getting difficult after card 350 for me. Or I just don't have enough dupes.

    1. I looked ahead and I think I will stop right around 300, there was a card number in the 300s that had no Twins at all, which I thought was kind of crazy. For the most part I am trying to pick favorites for each slot, so it will be a slow process filling out those 30 or so sheets.
