Saturday is Card Show Day in this neck of the woods. These are actually from two weeks ago, I can't get out to the show this weekend, too much life going on.
So - this is a little tease for a project I'm slowly working on. It will either be a series on this blog, or a blog all on its own. A tribute to my favorite cardboard from the 1980s - I am planning on putting together a page for each team for each year starting in 1981 with the end of the Topps Monopoly.
I do still dabble in 70s cards as well - That's a pretty sweet Frank Robinson card. 1975 SSPC cards were few and far between at the show, but I did find these.
O-Pee-Chee! Especially for Expos and Blue Jays, I'll be looking to fill my "I love the 80s" binder with OPC for Canadian teams.
I couldn't pass up the chance to pick up these 70s guys as well. I just noticed that I picked up 3 Jim Rice cards at the show, he must have been underrated and underrepresented in my collection (or these are all doubles and I haven't kept my lists updated!)
Not quite a bat flip, though I am guessing Teddy Ballgame would be a master at that if he played in the recent era.
Rounding it out with this classic piece of cardboard history.
here are the backs, squint if you have to!
I also picked up a bunch of Twins, here's a small sampling. Sano is numbered 25/50, I'm hoping he starts hitting some out soon (it's still early!).
