A Spot of 75s

Derrel missed National Sunglasses Day, but it's never too late to observe it. He's sporting mischievous eyebrows at a Jack Nicholson Level.  John of Johnny's Trading Spot sent over some 1975 Topps recently, and I am happy to have them!

The scanner did the best it could on these two, they were extremely miscut.

From the backs of those two, a pair of nicknames on the cartoons. Jesus is actually in really sharp, nice condition not counting the centering.

Johnny the #SuperTrader Maniac!

John from Johnny's Trading Spot wasted no time this week, sending a bubble mailer and a PWE right after it.

Some highlights from the mailer - I'm cataloging the "D" Twins players right now, I should know all of the Dozier cards I have and how many I am still looking for in the near future. It's very exciting!

There was a nice mix of big names and relative unknowns in the package. I'm surprised Guante wasn't a bigger deal, his name is Spanish for "Glove."

John also included this oddball felt mini Pennant in the mailer- It's a little bit longer than a standard card, so I'll have to get creative about where I can store it.

These were in the extra bonus PWE - thanks again for the trade John, I will send over some good stuff once I have accumulated enough for a decent mailer!

Johnny Spots Me Some Twins #SuperTraders

Now that's a great shot! Johnny of Johnny's Trading Spot is no stranger on the blog, as he's been a frequent and generous trader since the blog began.

Johnny always drops in a few cards for the bat rack mini collection.

This package was stuffed with parallels! Serial numbered cards and refractors, multi colored borders, of players old and new.

Great variety throughout, plenty of new and older cards, stuff I've never seen like the trippy Torii Topps All-Star.

This is how Topps Sets used to get updated, a little pen or pencil and now you've got a traded card!

This bat rack card started the mini collection, and it is a work of art!

Thanks Johnny! A great haul, and as usual my mail box barely survived under the weight of it all.

Everything Seems to be in Order Here

Tom from The Angels, In Order sent over a jam packed mailer this week. Tom collects a lot of the more overlooked cards in the hobby - the checklists, the special offers, the contest cards. He sent over a very cool contest card from a 1983 box of Super Sugar Crisp (now known as Golden Crisp to hide the evil killer sugar inside) The text mentions the architectural marvel just completed the prior season, The Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome!

A Few stickers 1982 Fleer Stamps and a tiny Kent Hrbek! Can you name the three players on the stamps? Answers at the end of the post.

Checking off some 1993 Fleer. Randy Bush put his initials on his wristband and his uni number on his bat - gotta keep an eye on your stuff in spring training!

Some more horizontal heroes - with Jack Morris giving Danny Gladden a big bear hug after scoring the Game and Series winning run to finish the 1991 World Series.

These are all from the "1992" Skydome Set. I put the year in quotes because this is the 1991 Stadium Club design, so to me it's more like a 1991 Stadium Club Update set.

Even more parallels and now that I'm finally organized I know for a fact that I didn't have the Oswaldo Arcia Red Foil Parallel. Pretty exciting to be sure!

That's quite the wad of chaw in Carew's cheek. Awesome well-loved vintage!

Not All Who Wander Are Lost . . .

Like Wander Javier, for instance - that's just the dude's name. Also, Julie from A Cracked Bat - she had a little wander away from the blogs for a bit, but she's back and we're all very happy to see her posting again!

Julie sent over this nice mailer last week, and it had plenty of shiny new Twins for me.

Minis!

These are from 2006 - I may have purchased a couple packs of cards total that year, and none of these guys were in there.

Do not adjust your set - Fleer issued B&W and Sepia toned parallels in their Tradition set - they have an old school texture to them as well - printed on honest to goodness cardboard (probably).

Bert!! The scan is missing out on the trippy refractor-y colors on this card, it's fantastic in person.

This was probably my favorite card in the package - it's a vivid shade of blue and hopefully a future MVP on the front!

Let's Make a Deal

Wallet Card Keith Here - do you like making trades? 

Here's an example of the cards I've organized by team - these are (almost) all of my Braves - Orioles - Red Sox - Cubs and White Sox. I have similar boxes that hold all Major League Teams. The bottom 3/4 or so of this box is up for trade.  

Sure, I've got a ton of Junk wax like these. They could be yours! Team collectors, set collectors, let me know what you still need to fill in those late 80s and early 90s gaps. I am more than happy to send a "grab bag" style package of junk wax wrapped with more interesting inserts/autos/vintage/specific want list items.

But I've also got Vintage like these! There's quite a bit less of this, but again, if you're working on a specific set, let me know and maybe I have something for you. 

2016 (and in a few weeks 2017) issued cards like these! Finish those 2016 (and '15) sets!

I'm looking to pare down my collection to be just the top section shown here for each team. My Twins Collection is also bursting - I have 5 boxes just like this one with just Twins cards in them, lots and lots of doubles. (So even if you are a fellow Twins collector, I probably have something for you).

So, what am I looking for in return? I've got vintage and Junk wax want lists, several player collections, and I am always interested in unique Twins.

If you're interesting in making a trade, let me know - I will still be putting together trades for #supertraders and for folks I've been trading with over the last couple years, too.

Spotlight on a big trade

Johnny's Trading Spot must be making some good friends at his local post office - He's been sending great stuff all over the continent this week. I was the lucky recipient of this haul. The box above is for a limited edition set from score - I actually have that set in a binder, but who knows where the box went... this counts as a separate Kirby Puckett collectible in my book.

Every kind of item was represented in this trade- from vintage bat racks

to junk wax bat racks (check out the great Bob Walk! Matthew, I got two of these in the package, so eventually one will be headed your way to join the Bob Army)
