I Miss Youppi, Too.

Maybe it was the pack of Bill and Ted movie cards I opened this weekend, but I'm feeling nostalgic. I think I'm going to spend a little time on the forgotten this week.
I miss the Expos! I miss the awesome logo, and having two teams in Canada.
Greats like Gary Carter behind the plate and Andre Dawson patrolling the outfield.
Tim Raines deserves some more hall of fame votes, and so does Larry Walker. I always get a kick out of the J in "Pedro J. Martinez" - makes me think of Homer J. Simpson.
Some of my favorite Expos cards - including Vlad!
One of my favorite cards of the 1980s - some awesome action, and the grin on Speier's portrait is just amazing.

I'd love to have the Expos back again, to travel to Montreal to watch them play a game... heck, I wouldn't even mind Youppi. Anyone have a Youppi card to send me? I miss the old son of a gun.

  1. It would be cool to see the Expos back, but it would take a lot of work. They would need a new stadium and an ownership group that has some financial clout. This is a good article.

    1. Yeah, the articles pop up every couple years or so, I think it will come down to whether or not MLB is willing to expand again (I think at this point that is unlikely). There are a small number of teams that might consider relocating, but it doesn't make financial sense to move a baseball team out of the United States right now.

  2. Collecting cards of teams that no longer exist (Expos, Browns, etc.) is a side project of mine. I always like buying Expos cards and pop when I pull one out of a pack. As for Youppi, last I heard he was picked up by the Montreal Canadiens.

  3. I'll have to check at the Expo in November and see if there is another dollar bin that has those little Youppi figures.

  4. For some reason, I've been falling madly in love with that '81 Donruss Raines rookie ever since I found it for a dime at the National.
