I've seen a few FrankenSets out there - for example John has a Braves set and a Uniform Number Set, Tom has a Cubs set, Nick has the Dime Box FrankenSet, Robert has a serial numbered card set, Night Owl has a night card set. Jeff's got a White Sox FrankenSet. T.J., The Junior Junkie, just started showing his Griffey Frankenset. I'm sure there are many others. Tell me about yours in the comments!
I decided this would be a good way to at least start organizing my Twins cards.
My own "rules" for the set are pretty simple -
1. Each card should be a Twins player in a Twins uniform (and exclude multi-team cards)
2. If at all possible, each page should have 9 unique players and 9 unique sets
3. Have Fun (Mandatory)

138 - Doug Mientkiewicz 2002 Topps Gallery
139 - Jake & Joe Mauer 2003 Topps Heritage
140 - Trevor May 2015 Bowman
141 - Rick Aguilera 1994 Upper Deck Electric Diamond
142 - Paul Molitor 1999 Pacific Omega
143 - Rod Carew 2006 Topps Sterling
144 - Jerry Koosman 1980 O-Pee-Chee
The Mauer throwback to the 1954 Topps card of the O'Brien brothers is by far my favorite on this page. The Topps Sterling card is SUPER thick. I also like the Star Trek lettering on Paul Molitor's card. I tossed in the Twins Team card since I haven't had vintage on the page for awhile.
Jake Mauer? Had to look that up. They look a lot a like.
ReplyDeleteJake is now managing the Low A Cedar Rapids Kernels in the Twins' system. Joe had a rehab assignment there after one of his DL trips in 2014 and Jake got to manage his little brother for a few games.
DeleteThe Joe/Jake Mauer is one of my all-time favorite Heritage cards. And that Rod Carew is definitely a jaw-dropper.
ReplyDeleteThe texture is really interesting on the Topps Sterling cards, it's like the printed the card on a slab of leather.
DeleteThe Twins frankenset gets better every week! Since you asked about other frankensets, I've got a new and completely crazy frankenset idea I'm debuting soon.
ReplyDeleteAwesome - looking forward to it!
