I'm very fortunate to live in the Twin Cities, where there are card shows every month, and several card shops in the metro area. This past weekend I went to the one card shop in the cities I've never been to before, and I found some fantastic stuff!
The stack above was all on a big table by the front window marked "all singles 10 cents" - we know what to do in this situation, right?

ReplyDeleteIn theory I am now working on the set as I have two T206 cards. I am actually hoping to one day get all of the Minneapolis Millers from the set. That might be possible...
DeleteThose reprints look fantastic, but, of course, the T206 steals the show. I might have to take a trip up to the Twin Cities just to check out all those card shops/shows.

Yeah, the "set" above is just the first half, I think I might cannibalize it and send out parts of the set as trade items. I thought it was the whole thing at first, but even after I realized it was not, I was still happy to get it.
DeleteGreat pickups! What to do with the eTopps? There's only one thing you can do - break 'em free! Those cards are seriously tough to find, since Topps put insanely high shipping fees on having the physical card delivered.
ReplyDeleteI think I will keep them encased for a little while, I need to work on a better system for binders / storage. I think if I break them out of jail too early they'll end up in a long box somewhere. But I agree, they deserve their freedom!

ReplyDeleteI know, right? I'm almost scared to delve to deeply into the reasons why for fear that it may come crashing down. The big monthly show is run like a co-op among the various vendors, it seems like they are good cross-promoters and they seem to do a good job of buying up each others things. I often see vendors at each others tables, buying up things or just talking shop.
DeleteI like the T206, but I think my favorite of the bunch is the green Xfractor Sano. He's a machine and that card is so shiny!

ReplyDeleteI'll take a look - Now that I've researched it a little more, maybe it is a full set? I have cards 1 - 108, which is all I can find on various online checklists. The cards themselves say they are part of a 240 card set...
DeleteThe set was issued in 3 waves originally, with a handful of the same cards being part of 2 of the three 3 waves. Perhaps this is what's causing the confusion?
DeleteAll I can tell is that I have 108 cards, and every checklist I can find has 108 cards (not counting variations of the same card #)... Maybe the 240 Cards described on the back was just wishful thinking on the part of the manufacturer (or willful dishonesty to get the kids to keep buying more...)?
