Thursday Trading Post

Blog trading is back with a vengeance, you just love to see it. Tom from Waiting Til Next Year  sent me a stack of vintage needs, for which I am very grateful!

Tom tossed in some Twins and a Tiger . . . Can't beat a pile of Hall of Famers in your mailbox!

Ford at Forbes Field finally closed out the package. Thanks again, Tom!

Then I was visited by a friendly Night Owl, who offered a stuffed envelope of great cards.

These guys have been prospects for so long that they are now veterans, and hopefully are just now entering their peak years- The Twins are ready to defend their AL Central crown this year, hopefully with a deeper run in the playoffs.

There were plenty of parallels to go around as well, including one of my favorite current Twins, Eddie Rosario, and one of my favorite baseball names of all time, ZACK GRANITE.

It wouldn't be a Night Owl related post without some sweet vintage, now, would it?

Last but not least was this teeny tiny Willians Astudillo. Thanks again for the great cards, Greg!

Bo from Baseball Cards Come to Life! bombarded my mailbox as well, with a bubble mailed packed to the brim with sweet sweet junk wax!

No shortage of horizontal heroes here!

Both named and unnamed needs were addressed with cards from the want list and mini collection hits like these bat rack cards of Ben Grieve and Mike Kelly.

I remain an unashamed and unabashed Barry Bonds fan, so these four were very welcome as well. Thanks Bo!

Tomorrow I will have some more free stuff to give away - GTT, if you're reading this. please reach out to me with your address! You can contact me using the contact form on my blog (viewable in the web version).

Over the Moon after this Trade

Spring Training Games started yesterday, I'm watching the Twins game right now, I'm as pumped as Red Dog here!
Another reason to be pumped up? Night Owl sent over some great cards in trade! I've had my eye on this Herb Washington card for some time, not many cards for Pinch Runners out there.
These guys were all on my junk wax want list - Kevin Foster employs the Jedi mind trick on a baseball in the upper left.
Some Horizontal Heroes, always a fan of Rickey running the bases - Pat Neshek, of course is a MN native and a P.C. guy.
Speaking of player collections, heeeeeere's Manny!
Twins were included as well - three MVPs and a Rat!
What I really appreciate is when you get a nice surprise like some Barry Sanders cards. I have very few non-baseball cards in my collection, but Barry is one of those players from my youth that stayed in my collection all the way through.

Thanks so much Greg!

Late Night #Supertrade

I usually post in the morning, but I usually write the posts in the evening. I might be the opposite of the my trading partner, as my job starts so early that I usually leave the house around 5:15 in the morning.

Switching it up a bit tonight, going to watch the World Series and feature a trade with the great blogger and Dodger fan, Night Owl.
Fittingly, we start with a night card.

Sano and Berrios are going to look to come back strong next season. Berrios has a strict workout routine, they,ve nicknamed him La Maquina (The Machine). Sano, for his part, does this:

There was a great mix of older cards, Newer cards that look old. Older players that look new, and Chip Hale! Chip usually wore #4 for the Twins, he had slightly smaller career numbers than the other #4, Lou Gehrig.
The best and the brightest were on display as well.
Vargas is tearing up the Winter League in Puerto Rico. Not saying, just saying. #FREEKENNYS2017 may or may not become a trending topic in the Summer.

Some more great stuff, Roolie of the Year Marty Cordova, and the awesome Hosken Powell.

Thanks Greg! Best of luck with your sorting project!

Quality via Quantity

I've been reeeeeeallly slow about updating this summer - This post was inspired by Night Owl's 50 under .50 - I logged into COMC and went to town with Twins cards (and a few others, like Moises up there) -- everything under 50 cents!
 Horizontal Heroes!
I steered clear of the true vintage cards this time around, but I was able to find cards from several generations of Twins teams.
It was great to get the band back together - Jacque Jones, Torii (from the first stint in MN), Corey Koskie, Christian Guzman, Brad Radke... and BOOF.
Lots of Super Shiny deals to be had, including a 2015 Bowman's Best Brian Dozier.
Picked up some junk wax too - it was a great deal, so why not???

#Supertraders Variety Pack

Pedro knows what's up - Night Owl sent over one Super Trade Package, with a little bit of everything. I love how this phenomenon is encouraging folks to be bold and curate these trade packages. Mr. Night Owl provides a prime example of how its done, he's been at it for some time. Congrats on your decade back in the hobby, Greg!
Here we have another Greg. The Halloween set gets some love, and Joe was still in his country music / sideburns phase of his career.
Great shot in the Metrodome . . .
Wait - the Documentary set has gold parallels?? The card on the top right is card number 3500 in the set - ridiculous! I want to meet the person chasing this set....
Pat Mahomes was the Twin mostly likely to featured on a card with his hat on backwards. Coomer often is showing off his tiger mane and forgoing the hat altogether.
Greg parted with a pretty cool night card of Juan Gone - I still have junk wax needs, but thanks to Super Traders the world over, I've been making a serious dent in those want lists.
I'm building this base set (really) so it was great to get some more!
The only Heritage I need -
 Gotta share the back too.
Some fun parallels!

Thanks Greg, this package was a real hoot!

This Trade was a Real Hoot

Greg (Night Owl Cards) sent over a team bag full of awesome things!
 Super Dave!
 Tiny stamps!
Hughes pitched two innings of relief last night perfect save for serving up a Phil Hughes special, AKA a monster home run. He's had a rough second season in Minnesota, but that's about right for Phil, great season followed by a clunker. Here's hoping for a strong 2016!
Barry is having a fun retirement (check him out on social media, he's pretty much killing it).

Early 90's Fleer! I needed all of these.
The first year of Triple Play had some great junk wax gems.
If the Twins can figure out how to stop another losing streak, they still might be able to squeak into the wild card. Molitor is probably one of the favorites (along with Joe Maddon) for manager of the year.
The Rat and America's Sweetheart, Kent Hrbek!

Thanks Greg, these were great!
