Monty Python may have encountered some issues with Tobacco related items from overseas...
But it's been smooth sailing for me!
Ollie Pickering played for the Minneapolis Millers in 1909 and 1910.
His biggest claim to fame? In 1901, he hit leadoff on Opening Day for the Cleveland Blues (later the Indians). Cleveland was the visiting team that day, which means Good ol Ollie was the very first batter in American League history! How cool is that?
I'm now up to 2 cards in my quest for a T206 Minneapolis Millers team set! Thanks so much Kevin, the colors on this card are still bright and vivid after all these years.
I love that Python sketch! That a really sweet card too ... the story of him being the first batter in the American League is really cool.
ReplyDeleteI think there was some method to the madness of the monster T206 set. A lot of the players represented have some cool story attached to them.
DeleteI feel bad because this is usually Zippy territory, but I'm glad it's in presentable shape !
ReplyDeleteIf you're feeling really bad about it, you could make up for it by sending another!
DeleteJust kidding, you are forgiven.
I didn't know Kevin smoked Sweet Caporal Cigarettes....
ReplyDeleteIf you thought chewing 80s Topps gum was rough, try smoking a 100 year old cigarette!
DeleteGreat looking card
