Topps Bunt? Topps Bunt.

Sigh. I got a new smartphone recently. It is the first one ever for me, I've been content to live a flip phone life, thank you very much.
It became more of a necessity and so of course the first thing I did was find a bunch of apps to throw on it.

So, I took the plunge and added Topps Bunt. I've so far managed to only spend .99 cents to unlock a Miguel Sano card, and every other fake digital card has been free.

And of course I had to get some Kennys Vargas "cards"

This was a nice Tribute to Yogi Berra on the news of his passing:

Bunt also features some interesting inserts:

and cards that don't exist yet:

I really hope that Topps uses a more interesting photo in the Update Series (in real life) for this card.

Most of the app is centered around trading and daily fantasy baseball, which you can play to earn more "coins" to "buy" "packs" of "cards."

A person could also spend real money on these fake cards (though only in the form of paying for coins, which gets you packs, which gets you random cards). The virtual collation is almost as bad as buying packs from the store!

It's a fun diversion, I'm not spending any money on it, so I don't see the harm. Plus, these cards don't become huge stacks that I need to sort. If you use Topps Bunt too, my username is KINGKENNYS (I didn't think very long about that one...)

  1. I have not taken the plunge for Bunt. I have too many real cards to start worrying about fake ones.

    1. I think the big positive for me is that I can look at "my" "cards" on my phone during work breaks... I've managed to trade my way to a Kennys Vargas rainbow, so that's fun. Haven't been able to do that in real life and I've been trying for almost a year now!

    1. cool - I sent a couple trades your way, took me a minute to figure out how to see which cards the other person has, and mixed up the screens a couple times, but I think I've got the hang of it now.

  5. I'm...not a bunt collector. I haven't been able to make the jump to intangible cards. Now if Panini decides to do a version, I'm all in. JK ;)

    1. It's funny - I could wake up tomorrow and have no Bunt cards and it would feel the same as having hundreds of them. There's a checklist feature, so I can look at every card ever made for Bunt, it's like I don't even need to collect them to view them on my phone, so I'm in no hurry to ever put money into it.

  6. I don't collect modern cards (except those with a 1975 design) so Bunt's an easy way to keep up and trade what's new. But based on poor Topps support experiences recently, my trust in them is low so I won't put money into it either.
